Annual General Meeting - Friday 8 February 2013 (posted 3 December 12)
The Annual General Meeting of St. Augustine's MTC will be held on Friday 8 February 2013 at The Old Edwardians Sports Club, The Memorial Ground, Streetsbrook Road, Solihull B90 3PE. The evening will begin at 7.30pm and is a great opportunity for current and past company members to meet and for any prospective new members to come along and get involved. You will receive a warm welcome, so we hope to see you there!

First Cast Members Announced for Robin, Prince of Sherwood (posted 27 March 12)
Gavin Whichello is to play Robin Hood in our November production of Robin, Prince of Sherwood.  Laura White will play Maid Marion.  Both Gavin and Laura last appeared with St. Augustine's MTC in the 2009 production of Disco Inferno.  Joining them will be Michael Bentley as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham!

Michael Bentley Succeeds Gill Nevin As Chairman (posted 27 March 12)
At the AGM in January, Gill Nevin ended her six-year tenure as Chairman of St. Augustine's MTC.  Gill still plans to support the Company whenever she can, but felt it was time to move on to new projects.  St. Augustine's MTC is hugely grateful for all the work Gill has done for the Company. 

In March, Michael Bentley was appointed to the post of Chairman.  Michael has been involved with the Company as a performer since 2010 and is excited to include this new challenge alongside performing.  Michael will be playing the role of the Sheriff of Nottingham in the November production of
Robin, Prince of Sherwood.

Audition Information Announced for Robin, Prince of Sherwood (posted 4 March 12)
Details have been posted on the Auditions page about the forthcoming Open Evening and Auditions for our 2012 production of Robin, Prince of Sherwood.  More information about the show and rehearsals can be found on the Current Production page.

More Men Needed for South Pacific! (posted 14 June 11)
We still need about 6 more men to join the ensemble for our next production of South Pacific which is now in rehearsal.  If you are interested in joining us for this Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, please ring Producer Veronica Walsh on 0121 705 3914 or email us.  We also need two men to take the non-singing roles of American Officers.

Treasure Hunt - Sunday 26 June (posted 14 June 11)
Following the success of our Treasure Hunt a few years ago and many suggestions that we should organise another one, we have set a date for a repeat performance.  The Treasure Hunt will take place on Sunday 26 June 2011 starting at 2.30pm at The Red Lion pub in Earlswood.  See the Social Events page for full details.

The Wedding Singer Nominated for NODA Award (posted 23 March 11)
St. Augustine's MTC's production of The Wedding Singer last November has been nominated for the NODA Best Show in Region Award! The award ceremony takes place on Sunday 3 April in Sutton Coldfield at 7.30pm. Tickets are £9.50 if anyone connected with the Company wants to attend. Auditions for South Pacific (posted 20 January 11)
Auditions for our November production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic, epic musical South Pacific will take place in February.  Full details will be given at the AGM on 28 January (see previous news item) and information can also be found on the Auditions page.

Annual General Meeting (posted 20 January 11)
The Annual General Meeting of St. Augustine's Musical Theatre Company will be held on Friday 28 January at The British Legion Club, Union Road, Solihull, starting at 7.30pm.  The business side of the evening will be fairly brief, followed by details and audition information about the November 2011 production of South Pacific.
The rest of the evening will be a social event giving all current and past members a great chance to get together for a catch-up.  There will also be a Quiz and a bar is available.
Everyone is welcome - pass the word around!

Death Of Margaret Griffiths (posted 23 September 10)
We are very sad to announce the death of one of the company's former members, Margaret Griffiths.  Margaret played Fraulein Schneider in our 2003 production of Cabaret and appeared in A La Carte IV.   As well as carving out a successful career as a solicitor, Margaret was also a professional actor and producer, running her own theatre company called Troika Productions.  Margaret had been fighting a brave battle with cancer for the past four years.

Anyone who knew Margaret is invited to attend her funeral and reception.  The details are as follows:

Friday 1st October 2010. Church Service at 1pm - St Alphege’s Church (Solihull town centre), Church Hill Road, Solihull, B91 3RQ. Burial at 2pm - Widney Manor Cemetery, Widney Manor Road, Solihull, B93 9AA. Reception 2:30pm onwards (2 min drive from cemetery) - Hogarth's Hotel, 4 Ashes Road, Solihull, B93 8QE.

If you wish to attend the reception, the family would like to have an idea of numbers, so please

Social Event - Treasure Hunt (posted 11 September 10)

Chairman Gill Nevin is organising a fundraising event for Marie Curie Cancer Care.  More information about the Blooming Great Ball can be found on the Promotion page.

Actor Required for the Role of George in The Wedding Singer (posted 9 Jul 10)
Auditions for the November production of The Wedding Singer have gone well and all principal roles have now been cast, with the exception of George.

George should be within the age range of 25 - 35 and have a vocal range from Middle C - G top of stave.  A strong falsetto voice is also required.  The character of George is flamboyantly gay and eccentric and is lead character Robbie’s other best friend and fellow member of the band.  A comic role styled on Boy George, he is an adorable character with great comic timing. Dance ability is also required.

The Wedding Singer - Audition Information Announced (posted 3 Jun 10)
The auditions for the November production of The Wedding Singer will be held on Monday 14 June and Thursday 17 June 2010 at Mill Lodge School.  All the necessary information can be found on the Auditions Page.  PLEASE TELEPHONE PRODUCER, VERONICA WALSH ON 0121-705 3914 IF YOU WANT TO AUDITION.

Limelight! - After Show Party (posted 25 May 10)
The After Show Party for Limelight!, to which all are welcome, will be at Gill Nevin’s house and garden in Hampton in Arden, near Solihull from 12.30pm on Sunday 13 June. Entrance costs £5 and includes food and and lots of fun!

Jean Amphlett (posted 14 Jan 10)
St. Augustine's MTC is very sad to announce the death of longstanding member Jean Amphlett.  Jean had been a member of the Company for many years and a staunch supporter of the Company's productions.  Jean also served on the Committee.  Although not active in the Company recently, Jean always insisted on remaining a fully paid up member.  St. Augustine's MTC gratefully acknowledges Jean's contribution over many years and she will be sadly missed.

For anyone wishing to attend, Jean's funeral service will take on Monday 25 January 2010 at 2.00pm at Hampton-in-Arden Parish Church.  Further details from Gill Nevin on 01675 443614.
