Help us to keep the company going - you can make a difference!
A whole range of talented people have come through our doors over the years since we started in 1974 - we’ve had great performers in our casts and the photos above show just a small number of them. Quite a few have gone on to train and work in the theatre profession.
Our longstanding Production Team members, headed by Producer/Director Veronica Walsh, have created many wonderful shows, assisted by dedicated committee members and other helpers.
Veronica has been the company’s Producer/Director for 27 years, and was Assistant Producer and performer for a number of years before that. We obviously want her to carry on being the driving force of the company into the future. We have exciting productions coming of KIPPS in 2022 and SHREK in 2023.
Since March 2020, things have been so disruptive for everyone on the work-front and, of course, on a personal level. Like many theatres and the Arts in general, St. Augustine’s MTC has also been affected. As we had to postpone a show for a second year running in 2021, by 2022 STAGS will have earned no income for two years and we will have to rely on our limited financial reserves to get back into action for the next production.
We will do it, but we need your help!
STAGS has meant so much to so many people, so If you feel you can make a donation to the company, however small (or large!), you will really be helping us to stay on a secure footing and allow us to keep producing high-quality local theatre entertainment for you in the years ahead.
If you’ve been to any of our shows in the past and enjoyed them, maybe think of donating the cost of the ticket you could have bought this year.
Please visit our GoFundMe page where you can make your contribution:
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far, it means everything! If you haven't donated yet, please consider helping us - thank you ♥️🎭

2021 PRODUCTION - Shrek The Musical
19 to 24 October 2021
** Announcement **
Shrek - The Musical - St. Augustine's Musical Theatre Company - October 2021
We are very sorry to announce that, after careful consideration, we have had to make the difficult decision not to go ahead with our production of Shrek this October.
Even though it looks like things are hopefully likely to improve for us all as this year progresses, there is still virtually no chance to be able to rehearse and prepare a large-scale theatre production by October, bearing in mind that for a local theatre company like us, this would mean getting work started in the spring. There is unfortunately still no realistic prospect of that happening at the moment.
Until the lockdown roadmap shows signs of success over the next few weeks/months, the theatre knowing when it can re-open and able to offer more than 50% audience capacity for ticket sales, and for us even to have a venue to rehearse in, we have reluctantly decided that it’s not feasible to begin the process this year. This is obviously a major disappointment, having already postponed our 2020 production, but it seems the only sensible thing to do in the circumstances.
This is once again only to be a postponement however, so the good news is that Shrek will be rescheduled for November 2023 and our postponed production of Kipps will be coming to The Core Theatre in November 2022!
We are really looking forward to when we can get back to rehearsing and performing and we thank you for your good wishes during what has been an extraordinary year for everyone. We hope you will stick with us and continue to help support the company - look out for more about that here soon!
More information about Shrek can be found on the Future Productions page.
